When preparing this book, several ideas about its content came to mind, especially since there are many directions an author can take in the field of community service. One could focus on the fundamentals, the processes of community service, models of working with groups, or supervision in group work. In truth, all these options are significant and require further effort to clarify, develop, and expand upon. However, what caught my attention while preparing my promotional research for the rank of Assistant Professor was a scientific study by (Toselama & McClive, 2009), which highlighted in its findings that the description of community service development in non-Western cultures remains extremely rare.
