Throughout generations, Muslims have accepted the Sahih books of Imams Bukhari and Muslim, as they are regarded as the most authentic books after the Holy Quran. Imam Nawawi confirmed this by stating, 'Scholars agree that the most authentic books after the Glorious Quran are the Sahihs: Bukhari and Muslim, accepted by the community.' Given the significance of these two books, scholars have focused on making them more accessible for easier benefit, and among these efforts was the attempt to combine them, as done by notable figures like Al-Jawzqi, Abu Nasr Al-Humaidi, and Abu Hafs Al-Mawsili, the author of this book, among others. Each followed a specific method based on their objective. Al-Mawsili's aim (in his book Combining the Two Sahihs) was to address people's neglect of Hadith studies in his time. To achieve this, he employed a method he explained by saying: 'I compiled this book, omitting chains of narration and recurrent texts, except those that could fit under multiple chapters'... In seeking brevity and avoiding lengthiness, he also omitted some long hadiths that didn't include prophetic wording.
