The book "Cognitive Theory in Learning" details the cognitive theory of learning, which has been the prevailing approach bringing learning and teaching closer to the reality of human learning. This is because the cognitive theory considers the learner's characteristics and the factors influencing their learning and processing. The definition of learning has shifted from an approach involving modification and change in behavior to the assumption that learning is the thinking process practiced by the learner in a situation. Learning only occurs if the learner is actively and energetically involved in the situation until what is called 'experience' is developed. Thus, learning is active thinking and interaction to develop the learner's experience. The changes that occur in the learner are changes in the number and level of cognitive structures, learning strategies for capturing experience, the type of processing the learner performs, and the adjustments and changes in their organization to suit their level and learning style. Consequently, the learner's role has changed to become vital, active, effective, organized, managerial, and a generator and producer of knowledge.

Various treatments have been included to explain learning from a cognitive perspective. All this review, processing, and rotation aimed to familiarize with the methods of explaining learning from a cognitive viewpoint. This contributes to understanding contemporary classroom learning situations and preparing cognitive materials in a suitable way for all students in the class.

Simple applications have been included for each sub-cognitive approach to make learning dynamic and to respect the learner's individuality and thinking. The ideas have been formulated in simple language to be understandable to every learner and specialist in the field.

Certain criteria were adopted in authoring the book, which are:

  • Making cognitive learning easy.
  • Helping the learner to interact with these experiences.
  • Developing the learner's experiences in cognitive learning.
  • Helping the learner to be able to apply knowledge.
  • Deepening the understanding of the cognitive approach, which was often rejected due to its difficulty.
  • Focusing learning on the learner's role and transforming them into a producer and generator of knowledge.

Therefore, I have tried to present cognitive insights that benefit learners, educational specialists, and teachers to adopt this approach and apply it in teaching students, designing learning experiences in curricula, building instructional designs, and appropriate strategies. This will work to raise the efficiency of education and make it more adequate and effective.
