About the Book

Camelia was six years old when Khomeini's supporters overthrew the Shah of Iran in 1979. Her family chose to remain in Tehran, even though some of its members disappeared at the hands of Khomeini's forces. While writing for the reformist newspaper 'Zan,' Camelia was imprisoned on charges of threatening national security and challenging the Islamic regime. After months of solitary confinement and daily interrogations, she confessed to crimes she did not commit, and even confessed to falling in love with her brutal interrogator in order to survive. After her release, Camelia had to fight anew for her freedom and to find an escape from the grip of this man with whom she shared secrets that could harm her.

Camelia Entekhabifard is an Iranian journalist, poet, and painter.
