Faisal Al-Shboul is a Jordanian writer and journalist, born on December 31, 1959. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Journalism in 1982 and began his media career in print journalism before moving to Jordanian television. He held prestigious media positions, including Director General of the Jordan News Agency "Petra".

His first novel, "Bread and Fear," was published in 2011 by the Arab Institute for Studies and Publishing. The novel explores the relationship between the ruler and the ruled in the Arab world and questions why Arabs lag behind the path of human civilization and lose hope. The story revolves around an Arab family losing stability after the father is arrested by a security authority, leading to a journey of suffering that reflects the reality of oppression and corruption.

The novel consists of 32 short chapters, each with an independent title, giving the text a cinematic quality. It is characterized by a direct and simple language, using symbolism to highlight social and political injustices. The novelist Jamal Naji described it as a "wild innocent flower," pointing to its honesty and boldness in addressing sensitive topics.
