The book 'Biopsychology' is the third in the neuroscience book series, following 'Human Neuropsychology' and 'Physiology of Behavior'. These are modern books included in foreign, American, and British curricula for postgraduate students in clinical psychology, psychiatry, mental health, nursing, and other specializations. They are extremely useful and indispensable for postgraduate students in clinical psychology and psychiatry to understand and interpret the neural mechanisms in the fields of mental and psychological diseases, behavioral and psychosomatic disorders, addiction to alcohol, drugs, and psychoactive substances, personality disorders, aging, and childhood, in addition to understanding the processes and mechanisms of psychotherapy.

This book was first published in 2009 in the United States, with its ninth edition released in 2015, and has been adopted as a textbook worldwide. A select group of doctors, neuroscientists, psychologists, and mental health experts, led by the American scientist V.S. Ramachandran, contributed to this book. The translator deemed it essential to translate this work to update important scientific material and courses for postgraduate students in clinical psychology and for physicians in the Arab Board of Psychiatry. The translator utilized the latest books, references, and the most recent editions of international psychological and medical dictionaries. He was also guided by the work of the Arabic language academies in Damascus, Cairo, Baghdad, and Amman, and the achievements of the Bureau of Coordination of Arabization in Rabat (Morocco), in collaboration with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO). The translator also referred to the dictionary of the Arab Medical Union issued by the World Health Organization (Middle East region, Alexandria). Throughout the translation and Arabization process, Arabic terms were standardized to a single meaning to benefit all students in Arab countries. As previously mentioned in 'Human Neuropsychology', the most important Latin and Greek prefixes and suffixes were included with their Arabic meanings, enriching the translation and Arabization process and mitigating linguistic differences.

The translator has also undertaken the 'Arabisation' of some concepts and phrases, a process of deriving a new Arabic word that translates the foreign term while conveying the original author's intended meaning, bringing the Arabic meaning closer to the scientific intent. We pray to God that this work brings benefit and scientific integrity to all. The translator must also extend his thanks and gratitude to the author of this book, John P.J. Pinel, who made a great effort to enrich 'Biopsychology' and provide it with the latest illustrations, laboratory experiments, and modern scientific materials.
