Behman finds himself caught in an internal struggle because of this, particularly as he suffers from hypochondriasis due to his parents' unstable relationship. As a Mandaean, he roams several countries hoping to reconcile with himself, figure out what he wants from life, and discover what life expects from him, searching for a convincing purpose to embrace. He, whose interactions with women were limited to schoolmates, meets a Black woman of the night at the Iremina Hotel whom he saw with his own eyes suffer physical violence. He falls madly in love with her, entering a new phase in his life where she becomes both his friend and confidante. In return, she trusts him and confides what led her to her current situation.

He moves between a pleasure house, a psychiatric clinic, a yoga club, and a suspicious hotel in an eventful journey spanning from the outskirts of London to the outskirts of Jerusalem.
