From the book:
I planted a dove in my heart, and deception brought it down. It heaved many sighs so that sadness would not lose its way to me. I gathered the world's clay in a ceiling, and it collapsed. I pierced my ship to know the dryness of life. I drowned in the philosophy of the soul to understand the ailments of spirits. I closed the gray curtains and was terrified by the ghosts. I watered the soil of the carpet, hoping it would clear the fog of complaint and imprint another mole on my face, that I might be enlightened and plant the dove once more.
