Since the 1980s, the term populism has resurfaced to describe certain political movements worldwide and some leader profiles. Every day we hear about populist speeches and leaders, populist parties, and media. The question remains, what is populism? Defining 'populism' precisely is challenging, as this term, unlike other political science terms, hasn't received adequate attention from scholars and researchers—it hasn't been extensively studied or discussed. Consequently, most definitions are ambiguous and unclear. This book seeks to clarify the concept of populism by examining movements considered populist on the global political map, aiming to present a clear definition. It also tries to explore the populist phenomenon from all its aspects, by analyzing populist elements in political speeches, forms of governance, and leadership personalities.

Mona Adel Khweis, a Lebanese author born in Batratera – Aley, has worked in print, broadcast, and visual journalism from 1986 to 1996. She has focused on leadership complexities and published a book titled 'Faces of the Leader' with Dar al-Saqi, Beirut, in 2005. In 2011, she published a study on the Arab world's change crisis titled 'Closed Doors' with Dar al-Farabi, Beirut.
