Muhyiddin Qandour is a Circassian filmmaker and writer, born in Amman in 1938. He emigrated to the United States at the age of thirteen to complete his education and graduated with a history degree from Earlham College. He later earned master's and doctoral degrees in economics and international relations from Claremont Graduate University in California. Qandour worked for several years in business management with multinational corporations in New York and London. He has produced many films, with his latest, "The Circassians," winning him the Best Director and Best Film awards at the Monaco Festival.

In addition to his cinematic works, Qandour is known for authoring several historical Circassian novels in English, such as "The Caucasus Trilogy," which includes "Swords of Chechnya," "Kazbek the Kabardian," and "The Triple Conspiracy," translated into Arabic in 2005. Other novels include "The Balkan Story," "The Revolution," "The Legend," "Dangerous Alliances," "Lost in Chechnya," and a study on "The Murid Movement – A Study of the Caucasian Wars."

Among his notable literary works is his novel "Babrass: The First of the Circassian Sultans in Egypt," published by the Arab Studies and Publishing Institute. The novel consists of 376 pages across sixteen chapters and narrates the story of a young Circassian boy, twelve years old, who was kidnapped for slavery from the Circassian coast on the Black Sea during the early thirteenth century to be sold to the Mamluk maritime fighters in Syria. The novel highlights important aspects of Baibars' life, delving into his personal life details, the environment in which he was born, his naming, and his father's work as a blacksmith, which greatly influenced his later prowess in combats.
