This book, 'Articles in Language and Literature,' discusses nine major topics. The first is the evolution of the Arabic language. The second topic is clarity and ambiguity, which is divided into four subtopics: the possibilities of ambiguity in the language system, utility and rhetorical relationships, degrees of correctness and error, and the phenomenon of abbreviation when there is no risk of ambiguity. The third topic is context, covering the contextual clue. The fourth topic is the lexicon: is it a system or a collection of vocabulary, and secondly, the words of civilization. The fifth topic revolves around terminology, with three subtopics: the development of Arabic terminology in grammar and morphology, the critical term between convention and improvisation, and the ancient rhetorical term in light of modern rhetoric. The sixth topic is linguistic intuition, with two subtopics: intuition between Arabic grammar and generative grammar, and between Abd al-Qahir al-Jurjani and Noam Chomsky on systems and modern structure. The seventh topic is linguistic criticism, with two subtopics: linguistic criticism of literature, and the stance of traditional Arabic criticism on meanings beyond linguistic formulation. The final two topics are the issues of modernity in the Arabic language, and the topic of meaning.
