JOD
Get it by 5 Aug | Order in 3 Hours 27 Minutes
Light: Areca palms thrive in bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in the morning or evening, but excessive direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. Place your Areca palm near a window with filtered or indirect sunlight.
Temperature: Prefer temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. They can withstand slightly lower temperatures but avoid exposing them to cold drafts or temperatures below 13°C (55°F).
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top soil (2.5 cm) to dry before re-watering. Water once a week during the growing season and reduce to every two weeks during dormancy. Adjust frequency based on soil moisture retention and environmental conditions.
Humidity: Areca palms appreciate humidity. Increase humidity by regularly misting the leaves or placing a tray with water near the plant to enhance surrounding air moisture. You can also use a humidifier.
Soil: Well-draining soil is essential. Use a mix of peat moss, perlite, and sand to create a loose and well-draining potting mix. It should retain moisture without becoming waterlogged.
Pruning: Regularly trim any brown or yellowing leaves to maintain the plant's appearance. If the plant becomes too tall or leggy, you can prune the stems to the desired height. Make clean cuts above a leaf node using sterilized pruning shears.
Pests and Diseases: Watch for common pests like spider mites, mealybugs, and scale insects. Treat any infestation promptly with appropriate insecticide or horticultural oil.
