Orientalism is the study by Western scholars of the East in its various aspects, while Occidentalism is the interest of Eastern scholars in Western civilization in its different realms. While the science of Orientalism is ancient and its elements are complete, to the extent that many Western and Eastern researchers have written about its end, the science of Occidentalism is just at the beginning of its path, preceded by a number of contemporary Arab and Muslim scholars and thinkers. Undoubtedly, its journey will be very long to achieve what is equivalent to the production of Orientalists in the field of Arab and Islamic civilization, regardless of its negatives and positives, for several reasons, including: confusion in vision, flaws in methodology, lack of patience and perseverance, fragmentation of researchers, and indifference from decision-makers and financiers.
