This book explores the life of the poet 'Antarah Ibn Amr Ibn Shaddad Ibn Mu'awiyah Ibn Qarrad Al-Absi' (525 AD-608 AD) and his well-known collection (Diwan Antarah). It begins by introducing the poet, his home, his father's acknowledgment of him, his love for Abla, and the stories about his death. The book then delves into Antarah's character and poetry. He is one of the most famous Arab poets of the pre-Islamic era and is considered a poet of valor. He vividly describes his experiences and his adversary, attributing to them all the pre-Islamic virtues, before proudly proclaiming their death. His poetry is noted for its beautiful portrayal, combining gentleness and strength, noble meanings, easy vocabulary, harmonious expression, and musical resonance. The book is divided into two parts: the first contains the authenticated poetry of Antarah, as narrated by esteemed narrators such as Al-Asma'i, Abu Ubaida, and others. The second part includes the poetry whose authenticity is questionable, associated with his story and collected in his Diwan. Under the title 'Alas, O Abla’s Abode!' Antarah Ibn Shaddad writes: 'Alas, O Abla’s abode at Al-Tawiyya, like the return of a tattoo on the hand of a gifted one; a revelation of records from Kisra’s era, presented to a deep-speaking foreigner.'
