In response to the new economic climate imposed by the market economy, institutions must adopt a more dynamic character. They must contribute to wealth creation and profit generation to ensure their continuity and survival. This requires adopting mechanisms and tools that align with modern changes, allowing for effective internal management and adaptation to the external environment. This approach is contrary to what was prevalent during the planned economy era, where institutions were given a social character, limiting their role to providing essential materials, creating jobs, and following administrative pricing policies.
To achieve this change, it is essential to rely on modern management methods to obtain important and sufficient information about all happenings within the institution and its surroundings. This enables making appropriate decisions at the right time and place, allowing the institution to survive and compete with its local and international counterparts. Among the most significant of these management methods is the technique of analytical accounting.
The importance of analytical accounting lies in its ability to address the shortcomings of general accounting, which has become incapable of providing institutions with analytical data, especially with their growing size and the complexity of expenses associated with their activities. This is a result of the evolution of production methods and competitive conditions. Analytical accounting is a technical tool for the management control system and a key means to improve an institution's effectiveness and efficiency. This technique is applied based on the nature of the problem to be analyzed and monitored, involving a set of procedures, methods, and techniques to increase control effectiveness, as it allows for the study and monitoring of profitability and determination of the organization's efficiency.
