His criticisms extended even to some of the Sahaba (Companions of the Prophet), claiming that Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him) disregarded their hadiths and that his analogical reasoning (qiyas) took precedence over them, in addition to disparaging the virtue and knowledge of the Imams.
