The book 'Al-Sira al-Nabawiyya' by Ibn Hisham is one of the foundational books on the history of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is the most famous work on his biography. Scholars have given it great attention, sometimes writing commentaries on it and at other times abridging it, both in the past and in modern times. This book by Ibn Hisham is a refinement of the earlier work by Ibn Ishaq, of which only a small portion has reached us while most of it was lost. This adds to its importance, as Ibn Hisham omitted what he found to be irrelevant or weak, and added to it where he deemed appropriate. He included suitable poetry, and the editors have explained ambiguous passages, provided biographies for notable figures, created section headings, and equipped the book with scholarly indices.
