The book 'Al-Shari'ah' was authored by Imam al-Ajurri, who passed away in the year 360 AH. One of the reasons for writing this book was the spread of innovations and heretical desires in his time, and the emergence of misguided sects opposing Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah. These sects confused many people about their religion and cast doubts on their core beliefs. Imam al-Ajurri wrote this book out of zeal for the pure and correct creed. Regarding his reason for writing, the Imam said: 'I have detailed in this book – which is the book of Al-Shari'ah – from its beginning to its end, what I know all Muslims need to learn due to the corruption of many people's doctrines and the emergence of many misguided desires and widespread innovations. I know that the people of truth will find their souls strengthened by it, and it will be a tool to suppress the people of innovation and misguidance, according to what Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has taught me. Praise be to Allah for that.' The book addresses most issues of Islamic creed according to the methodology of the righteous predecessors (Salaf al-Salih) and also serves as a refutation against innovators and misguided sects.
