The science of 'Al-Nasikh wa al-Mansukh' (The Abrogating and the Abrogated) is a significant field within Qur'anic studies. It is through this knowledge that one can distinguish the verses whose rulings we are still required to follow from those whose rulings have been replaced by others for a wisdom we may or may not comprehend, such as for ease and facilitation. In his book, Judge Ibn al-Arabi has compiled the verses that are said to be abrogated, mentioning their abrogators according to the order of the surahs. He discusses whether he agrees with or opposes the claim of abrogation, presenting the opinions of scholars, prophetic hadiths, and principles of Islamic jurisprudence. The hadiths in the book have been authenticated, and it includes some commentary.
