Al-Muhaya in Revealing the Secrets of Al-Muwatta: The book of Malik was the most beneficial and influential of the works composed up to that time. Caliph Abu Ja'far al-Mansur (d. 158 AH) approached Imam Malik during the pilgrimage season, asking him to compile a book on jurisprudence. He sought a comprehensive collection adhering to scholarly standards, saying: 'O Abu Abdullah, compose a book on jurisprudence, avoiding strictness and excessive leniency, and aim for moderation, aligning with the consensus of the scholars and Companions. We will spread it across the lands and require adherence to it.' Mansur asked Imam Malik to unify the people under his book, but Malik declined, demonstrating his deep knowledge and fairness, acknowledging that people had already collected knowledge unknown to them. Scholars have greatly valued this book, offering explanations, clarifications, and annotations. Among these commentaries is Kamakhi's Al-Muhaya Sharh Al-Muwatta 4/1.
