The book "Al-Khulasah," also known as "Khulasat al-Mukhtasar wa Naqawat al-Mu'tasar," is being printed and published for the first time since the school of Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) spread, and each Imam had his students who transmitted his sayings and fatwas. Imam al-Muzani, considered the closest of Imam al-Shafi'i's students, emerged, and his book "Al-Mukhtasar" became one of those beneficial foundational texts that became a cornerstone in the madhhab, with many commentators and summarizers of his work. In fact, most of those who wrote on Shafi'i jurisprudence after al-Muzani's 'Mukhtasar' drew from or relied upon it, as the madhhab revolves around the Imam's sayings, and al-Muzani is the most reliable narrator from him and the closest of his students.

Imam al-Bayhaqi (may Allah have mercy on him) said of it: "We do not know of a book written in Islam of greater benefit, more universal blessing, or more fruitful than his book." Imam al-Ghazali (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "How worthy is al-Muzani's 'Mukhtasar' to be memorized, for its issues are the gems of Imam al-Shafi'i's words... and its narrator is the centerpiece of the madhhab's chain, indeed the master of masters." It is a great book; however, as it was a voluminous reference, its author elaborated extensively on issues and objections and did not arrange it cohesively, with topics being scattered. This prompted Imam al-Ghazali (may Allah have mercy on him) to summarize 'Al-Mukhtasar,' arranging and refining it in the best possible way, out of a desire to make it more accessible to those interested and easier for students to memorize.

It is among the foundational books of the Shafi'i madhhab that deserves to be celebrated and given due attention. By the grace of Allah and out of a desire to serve this blessed book, our editor, Dr. Amjad Rashid Muhammad Ali, chose this noble work for his doctoral thesis. He exerted great effort in its care until he produced it with scholarly verification, which added to its excellence. Praise be to Allah, it has become a precious and easily accessible book, a valuable masterpiece, as he verified it, meticulously edited it, and commented where necessary. And now, Dar Al-Minhaj proudly presents this magnificent work to its valued readers, praying for acceptance from Allah.
