The novel "After Beirut," with its political narrative, addresses a sensitive and important stage in the history of the Palestinian struggle in Lebanon. Its first chapter reveals the departure of the Palestinian resistance from Beirut and details the massacre that claimed about three thousand Palestinian and Lebanese lives in the Shatila camp and Sabra neighborhood in mid-September 1982. The story follows the return of its central character, "Ziad," to Amman, and subsequently explores the experience of prison literature as "Ziad" spends a short period in prison as a political detainee.
