Some can be used throughout the entire lesson as a primary teaching strategy, while others can be used by the teacher to break classroom routine and energize students when they show a lack of engagement. The first chapter is a theoretical introduction to active learning, covering its justifications, theoretical foundations, origins, concept, characteristics, principles, importance, the roles of both teacher and learner, and its challenges. The second chapter consists of 180 active learning strategies selected by the authors, with consideration for both theoretical and practical aspects. The third chapter presents a collection of complete science lessons where some of the strategies reviewed in the second chapter are applied in an integrated lesson.
