About the author Salim Najib Haidar: Born in Baalbek where he completed his early education. He later moved to study at the National University in Aley, followed by the 'Laïque' Institute in Beirut. He earned a bachelor's degree in Arts and diplomas in Criminology, Political Science, Sociology, and Psychology. He also obtained a doctorate in Law from the universities of Paris and Montpellier. He was appointed as a judge and an extraordinary ambassador to Iran, Afghanistan, Morocco, and the Soviet Union, and later served as a minister in three consecutive governments from 1952 to 1955. He was elected as a representative for the Bekaa region in the 1953 and 1968 parliamentary sessions. He was awarded the most prestigious official and intellectual honors by various Arab and international states and organizations. Haidar was fluent in seven languages. He wrote on poetry, prose, and politics, participated in numerous conferences, and delivered many lectures on diverse topics including politics, literature, education, religion, and philosophy.
