"Abduction.. Secondly" is a historical-intellectual fantasy novel that addresses the contemporary situation of the Arab world. It is crafted in a style that links the past to the present and the present to the past, with poignant political undertones. The novel, which consists of two parts, delves into the modern condition of Arabs and Muslims. The author, Hamad Al-Hamad, wrote the first part, titled "Abduction.. Firstly," before the events of the Arab Spring. The second part, "Abduction.. Secondly," was written after the so-called Arab Spring, which turned into a long, tragic, and dark autumn where all options, convictions, and dreams collapsed.

In the novel, we meet the main character, the thinker Abu al-Sha'sha' al-Mismari, who lived in Baghdad during the era of Caliph al-Ma'mun in 820 AD. He was pursued by the Caliphate for his ideas that challenged the ruling system and planted revolutionary thoughts among the common people. To save him, a vehicle arrives from another planet, Ajad, located in the tenth sky. He is abducted along with his family—his wife Umm al-Sha'sha', his son al-Sha'sha', and his daughter al-Fayrouza. The family lives on this planet for what equates to more than a thousand years, where human age does not change. Feeling bored, the thinker Abu al-Sha'sha' refuses to stay and asks the planet's government to return him to his original home, Baghdad, to see the state of the Arabs, the Caliphate, and how far the Arab conquests have reached. He is finally allowed to return to the Arab world and Baghdad in the year 2014 AD. Upon his arrival, he finds a changed world, which is what the author narrates in the second part of the novel.
