A Unique Educational Methodology in the Quran - Researches at the Summit 3

Our educational curricula, which are adopted by schoolchildren in our countries, remain fragments of foreign theories transmitted to us as they are, after being formulated in clear or unclear Arabic. This transmission often overlooks the significant difference between the nature of the foreign psyches for which these theories were tailored and the nature of Muslim psyches, which have been imbued with the innate disposition (fitra) of Islam and have grown under its care and guidance, regardless of its influence's strength or weakness in society.

It is well-known that just as educational curricula influence learning methods and behavior, they are also influenced at their inception by the established behaviors, philosophies, and methods of knowledge and understanding within a society. Undoubtedly, these curricula are only compatible with the society in which they originated and with which they interacted. It is foolish to assume that their compatibility with the mentality or psyche under whose supervision they were developed is a correct measure of their compatibility with any other mentality or psyche that was not born in their shadow and from which they did not derive their logical and intellectual controls and features.

Religion, for example, in European society, is based in its foundations and teachings on little more than emotional and sentimental incentives. Therefore, religious education curricula there are based on abstract sentimental provocations, which are often fanciful or distant from the authority of thought and reason. Consequently, religion itself among Europeans is a social phenomenon.

Our religion—Islam—is based in its doctrines and principles on firm intellectual foundations and requirements, for the understanding of which logic and thought are summoned.
