Sawsan stood on the house balcony, gazing at the neighborhood and the distant creek, while her heart pounded intensely. The night had drawn its curtains over the homes, enveloping them in silence and tranquility except for a few open windows dimly lit by lanterns. She couldn't understand what stirred her depths that evening, preventing her from sleep. She felt profound sorrow and unease of unknown origin. She looked at the sky, its few stars scattered in this night's depth, and was filled with the same feeling she had in Egypt when she retreated to her room by the Nile, listening to something akin to heavenly music and a passing ethereal figure whispering to her, almost indistinct. Her intuition never failed when something was about to happen, or she sensed an omen on the horizon. However, this time she couldn’t discern what the sky had in store. The sky was not the same as in Egypt, nor was there a Nile echoing the return of the wandering figure.
