Human life on Earth began with Adam, peace be upon him, and his wife. From them came offspring who were Muslims, believers in God. God taught them agriculture, how to benefit from rainwater and livestock—their meat, milk, and wool. He taught them shipbuilding and seafaring, and how to be guided by the stars on their journeys through dark paths, and other things that would make their life on Earth easier.

God, the Glorified, taught Adam, peace be upon him, how to undertake the mission for which He created him. Adam clarified the path of good to his descendants and warned them against the path of evil. He informed them that they would die, be resurrected, and be held accountable, and that the winner is the one who enters Paradise, while the loser is the one whose life and deeds lead to the Fire.
