This lens, which is a member of Sigma's Global Vision series' Art line, is made to provide genuinely remarkable optical performance and is best suited for artistic and creative uses. With its 136mm equivalent focal length, this short telephoto 85mm f/1.4 prime lens is suitable for full-frame format Canon EF-mount cameras, but it can also be used with APS-C models. When employing shallow depth of field techniques, the fast f/1.4 maximum aperture offers more control over the focus position and is ideal for working in low light. To account for chromatic aberrations throughout the lens design, two SLD elements, one element with a high index of refraction and a high rate of anomalous partial dispersion, and one aspherical element have been included.
